Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 21st instant transmitting a copy of a circular despatch and its enclosure from Her Majesty's Secretary of State for the Colonies regarding a proposed gift by the Dowager Lady Vernon of works by the late Lord Vernon and asking whether the City Hall Committee would accept the terms and conditions laid down by her ladyship.
In reply I have the honour, by direction of the City Hall Committee, to state that they will willingly accept for the City Hall Library the works mentioned in the Secretary of State's despatch.
